John Brown Day celebrates and honors women and men whose work invokes the passion and conviction of the 19th-century abolitionist who dedicated his life to the cause of liberation.
The annual event, which is organized by North Country-based human rights and freedom education project John Brown Lives!, will be held at the John Brown Farm in Lake Placid, NY. The public is welcome.
Following the event, there will be a reception at the Cascade Welcome Center from 5-7pm. Tickets for the reception are $40/person.
John Brown Day 2023 on Saturday, May 13 will be dedicated to the award-winning novelist Russell Banks who died in January of this year.
